RAAA Coaching Goals

Expectations of RAAA Basketball Coach

  1. Be Patient-Encourage efforts and compliment success

  2. Be Positive-Don’t focus on the negative, focus on the ways to help the kids learn the skills. Be constructive.

  3. Be Prepared-The attention spans are short for this age, so come with a practice plan with different drills and games to keep the interest. Most valuable time to teach!

  4. Triple D- When teaching a new skill: Describe it, Demonstrate it and Do it!  Never get tired of teaching the fundamentals

  • A scrimmage without stopping to correct is not a good practice
  •  Be Creative-Keep it Simple. Modify the Skill to match the player ability
  •  Team building---get to know your players as people, teach them to take ownership of their actions and effort, and remind them they are playing for each other!
  • Have fun---where at the end of the season your players got better, they grew as a team and want to keep playing basketball!!!
