Honor the Game!

RAAA In-House Basketball Program is for boys and girls in Kindergarten through  6th grade. RAAA basketball will provide all participants with a positive experience, inspire each player to continue playing the game and developing their skills and teach life-lessons; especially teamwork, responsibility, hard work, and sportsmanship.

We will follow R.O.O.T.S - honoring the Rules of the game, our Opponents, the Officials, our Teammates and our Self!

We are all Rosemount basketball and want to create a culture of good sportsmanship, leadership, and handwork!

• For boys and girls who will be in kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year - no exceptions 
• The focus of this program is learning the basketball basics: dribbling, passing, and shooting
• This program will  be run in a clinic format led by someone on the in-house board as well as volunteer coaches
• Players will rotate from station to station led by coaches. The first 3 clinics will be skill work and fun skill games. The last 3 clinics we will do some small sided games and contests. This will be a fun and fast moving program.
• Players will be put in groups of 6-8 players led by 2-3 coaches. These groups will be formed by schools as much as possible.
• Players will use a 27.5 size basketball and shoot at 8-foot baskets.
• Each player will receive an Irish basketball t-shirt
• Coaches will receive a lesson plan each Saturday of skills and games that they will be in charge of for that session.

We want to teach players the skills while kids are having fun with friends, playing a great sport!

• One practice each week, 45 minutes in length
• 27.5" basketballs
• Separated into girls and boys teams
• Each player will receive a jersey and shorts
• Teams formed and schedule finalized in early October
• Parents' and Coaches' meetings on Monday, Oct 9 at 7pm
• First practice begins the week of Oct. 23rd 
• Last Day - Saturday Dec. 9th  

First Grade Players

•  8-foot hoops
• 5-6 players on each team preferred
• Games played 3 v 3, unless team size forces 4 v 4
• 1-2 coaches per team

Second Grade Players

• 9-foot hoops 
• Teams of 8-9 players
• Games played  4 v 4
• 1-2 coaches per team

Clinic Schedule:

• 1/6/24, 1/13/24, 1/20/23, & 1/27/24
• 60 minute sessions
• Session times:  between 8:00 am and 11:45 am
• Players will stay with their group for each session at the same time each week
• Participants receive a T-Shirt

• This will be our 6th year in the SSYBL.
• 3rd-6th grade boys and girls
• Participating Organizations: Eagan, Farmington, Apple Valley, Mendota Heights, S. St. Paul, and Eastview
• This will offer a more competitive environment without the level of commitment of traveling league
• The goal is to continue to teach and advance a player's basketball skills, while also developing as a team
• Season begins Dec 11th (earlier than past years!) with games starting Jan. 6th and ending February 24th.
• Players will receive a team jersey and shorts.
• Games will be played in areas schools on Saturdays between 8 am - 4 pm

3rd and 4th Grade

• Practice once or twice a week - 1 hour in length
• Practices will occur at 6:15 or 7:15
• Games will be 5 on 5
• 27.5" basketball 
• 9-foot (3rd grade, where available) and 10-foot hoops

5th and 6th Grade

• Practice twice a week
• Practices will occur at 6:15, 7:15, or 8:15
• 28.5" basketball
• 10-foot hoops

End of season tournament will occur the last two weeks of the season: February 17th and Saturday February 24th. All teams play both weekends.
